๐ A photo scavenger hunt for your trip
PicMyPic turns a holiday, a stag do or a wet weekend into a friendly competition. You write the challenges โ steepest street, best pastry, worst tattoo โ everyone photographs them, and then everyone ranks everyone else's shots. The app does the scoring so nobody has to be the judge.
Only the organiser needs an account. Everyone else just taps a link โ no app store, no passwords, no signing anybody up for anything.
How it goes
Everyone works through the list at their own pace, taking or picking photos on their phone. You can see what everyone else has filed as it arrives, which is half the fun and most of the sabotage.
When you close submissions, everyone puts each challenge's photos in order, best first. You never rank your own. Change your mind as often as you like โ nothing counts until you lock a challenge in.
One leaderboard, one winner, and a gallery of everything anybody shot, grouped by photographer. Settle up over dinner.
Getting everyone in
The worst part of any group app is the ten minutes at the start where three people can't get in. So there is nothing to get into: you send each person a link, they tap it, and they are playing.
Vertical Lisbon
Write twenty of them, group them into sections, and you have a hunt. Here is the sort of thing that works.
๐ด Steepest Street Selfie
Stand at the bottom of something absurd and prove you climbed it.
๐ฎ Best Pastel de Nata
One photo. You will have to eat several to be sure.
๐ A Cat In A Window
Harder than it sounds. The cat decides.
๐จ The Tile Mosaic
A wall worth stopping for, framed like you meant it.
๐ด A Local Character
Ask first. Points deducted for being weird about it.
๐ Golden Hour, Anything
The easiest way to look like you know what you are doing.
Settling it
Everyone ranks everyone else's photo for each challenge, and the rankings are added up with a Borda count โ your top pick gets the most points, the next one fewer, and so on down.
It means one person who loves your photo cannot carry you, and one person with a grudge cannot sink you. The photo that most people liked most tends to win, which is the outcome everyone can live with.
One published ranking, and only one
The final leaderboard is the only order anybody sees. Who came third on the pastry round stays between you and your conscience.

Write your list before you go, send everyone a link when you land, and spend the week noticing things you would have walked straight past.
